My little Husky not been used for 6 months. Pumped through fuel and she started 3rd pull but would then not stop revving high even when the throttle was not being touched.

Any simple solution for me to look for?

May be something very simple,  the part throttle lock on the carb stuck, just make sure the throttle is going back to the idle position by pushing back manually with you finger, it should go back and rest on the idle screw on the l/h side of the carb.

Thanks for that suggestion, but it is returning to idle position fine.

Setting screws have not been touched but could they have moved during the last use?

Or something sticking in carb?

Air leak perhaps ?

So, the choke mechanism is in the RUNNING position and the throttle linkage is resting on the idle screw conical part around 1/2 way up....as ADW asked.

If it is doing this and then either the L screw is set a bit lean, you have a partial blockage in the fuel system just giving enough fuel for the saw to run or you have an air leak.

If you can wind the idle screw right out and the saw is still racing, the saw has an air leak and if you can wind the L screw all the way in and the saw still runs, you have an air leak.

ADW may have a bit of info on the saw type and likely areas to look at. Probably easier than doing a full vac and pressure leak test. He is probably busy with his Downton Abbey box set on a Sunday night:D

I have to be honest I cannot remember a 245, is that definitely the right model, there was a 245r brush cutter, back to Downton  for me now.

I saw tonight it is a 2002 model! No done a massive amount of work, fencing, firewood and latterly hedge laying.

Zama carb, priming bubble and decompression button.

Enjoy Downton!

Just watched The Plank with Eric Sykes, classic!
