I don't know about easier! No hiab big enough to lift even 6 foots of that trunk would fit in the drive way I don't think! There would be quite a reach to the base end of the trunk anyway.

My mate that I use with the forwarder certainly couldn't get to it, and I wouldn't pay to get anyone else in.

No metal in it, that we found anyway! Still a bit more to move tomorrow!

ha ha, i meant easier than slicing the slices lol, it would of been ideal jcb bucket size, 6 foot chunks, back actor them around, scoop up and away, oh the perfect world, that tree reminds me of the one i took the timber off of for another company, well the stem any way, luckily they had a sky hook, i took it away in the hiab trailer, dad sliced it and split it, we reckon there is 60 dumpy bags in it split, £3600, my mate said i was mad taking the wood away for nowt:biggrin:

Yup. 6 foot of beech at 48" diameter works out at about 2400kg, which is about the limit for my crane. I can reach out to about 6 metres, which would get most of it I reckon, and I could certainly drag it in to the truck, and cut liftable sections once it was close enough.
