Been reading this thread with interest.

 

Do you think a small chipper like the JB300 etc, a pick up and trailer (ideally tipping) is a good set up to start with, then add to your arsenal when cash and increase in work allows? (Private work at weekends )

 

Saying this as have access to the truck and trailer, and thinking of investing in a little bad boy, as stacking and mincing is getting to be a pain in the bum tbh!

 

Surprised what can be diced up onto a trailer, but can these wee chippers really deal with a big takedown, obviously 3"+ timber going for logs??

I have done some serious trees in tight places with the JB M300, but that is its beauty, getting it in where drag-outs are a pita. I dont know if I'd want to solely rely on a wee chipper for everything, but may be a solution to your problem.

if all you need to invest is 3k ish then it would seem a sensible option! you can always hire in a bigger chipper as required

these are only small chippers, thats it. You have to supply the magic to make the whole thing work well.

You're right, does exactly what it says on the tin, a relatively small investment, that can pay itself back pretty quick, and you make it work. I like what i've been reading!

 

Where are the dealers for these range of chippers in Kent/Sussex/SE London area please?
