357xp piston problem

Hello,

I have an earlier model of Husqvarna 357xp(before S/N 020700001) and I need a new piston kit. The earlier models had a 13mm wide rod, newer pistons had 15mm rod. I can't find the older model piston anywhere. Is it possible to use a newer piston (15mm) in my chainsaw or please advice me where to get older model of piston or what else to do. Thanks.

On Ebay are just the newer pistons(for 15mm width rod). I don't know if they will fit.

Curiously the item references the part number you need but the address I just put up generated a link referencing the part number for the later piston assembly... So maybe best ring to check

It seems that this is the newer model of piston, because both have the same shop's number: RS724926

Official husqvarna dealer in our country(Slovenia) said it can not supply early model piston. Thanks.

Are the saws the same apart from the thickness of the con rod little end ? You could try a couple of 1mm washers either side of the little end bearing but it might be fiddly getting them in there.

You should not use the later piston, due to the end float you will have piston and big end issues, not too sure if I have an od style piston, I will look later.
