hi guys

just joined your great site ,seems theres plently of great info ,& nice people on here

so i,m after some advice please , ive owned chain saws for years now as i have a couple of logburners

i bought them 2nd hand off ebay (sthill ms180) theyre been good but getting old & start bogging down from time too time

i,m thinking i could do with a bigger saw as id like too start ringing up some larger oak trees trunks that have fallen over in my local patch

so im after new saw recomdations please id like something with plenty of guts ,& light as possible, not really intrested in battery would rather a petrol

so what you all using ?

big thanks pete ?

Welcome Pete, what sort of size are the trunks you want to cut and whats your budget?

hi steve thank you

ive not really measured up any trunks but id say roughly 3-4ft in diameter , my ms 180 has not got enought guts& not long enough bar

as for budget £400 - £600 ,

Or in a pinch, a 261cm with a 24" bar and full skip chain? Budget friendly and will do all the other fire wood you ask it to?

paddy what saw would you be looking at for this bar ?

Big step up from an ms180 but with a bigger bar (come standard 18inch) it'll eat a 4ft oak. And it is in budget.

Or @shavey could price you up an orange version

If you mean a Dolmar, they are the same saw as a Makita.
