Breton oak milled.

We felled the oak in September 2019. Ganoderma resinaceum present and the crown was becoming a liability. An access road for the new metro station passed within a branch drop so the owner reluctantly decided to remove the 110 year old tree.

The crown made approx 12m3 of firewood whilst 8m of stem was kept for milling.

A year passed before we got our act together.

I should have been in the UK doing a windthrown course but quarantine but paid to that.

So officially on holiday, we took the opportunity of a break in the weather.

Tom's venerable loader is good to lift 1300kg but the log was closer to 4000kg.

So we cut in 2 and rolled it into position, building the Peterson mill around it.

We milled mostly 120 x 120, 120 x 60 and 400 x 50

Very little wastage but nearly 20 barrows of sawdust!
