Friend of mine is a NPTC trainer and he is always banging on to us that we should really be updating our NPTC tickets....

he's gotta earn a crust i spose

strange that he has not said if it is a legal requirement seeing as he is linked to nptc

NPTC is not a government body or a requirement in law.

NPTC was set up to offer climbers the ability to proove they are at least competant.

Some councils and commercial business request you show these.

But many accept without.

The most important thing in arb work is you are fully insured thats period.

many insurance policeys are only covering if you do have nptcs though...

Some of this is true.

Please will people stop saying you need NPTC to get insurance this is totally wrong.

I Went through many quotes and the company that offered me the best deal did not ask for NPTC.

And many of the other insurers did not ask for NPTC since there are other ways to proove your competance.

Previous company you worked for how many years etc.

Just dont lie and make sure you are covered for every aspect of what you do.

I was asked in two quotes I told em i didnt have aerial rescue as it wasnt compulsary or didnt exist when i did my nptc up tree units....there was a long silence from both but i said 15 years and no claims how was i a risk one gave me the cheapest quote!

my father recently had to take his nptcs to work for the forrestry comision evan though he was working felling in kielder in 78 and has used a saw felling trees nearly every day since..

I would take the ariel rescue my self to update my units i have but need to know if they are invalid with out it?
