mate i have a rotating cowl i'm not using its like new. open to offers if you want. cost £150, put it on, then realised the problem was that the bleedin chimney sweep didnt do a thorough job. swept the chimney properly, then didnt need it any more. its just sat in the shed now...

Am I being dense here? When I've got my fire lit - if I opened my living room door I'd have a baltic wind blowing in the room which kinda defeats having a fire lit???? (I'm too tight to have the central heating on when I've got the fire lit in the only room I'm in - sod everyone else!)

I've got a cowl on the chimney and have it swept twice a year - that seems to do the trick for me.

I open the van door a little when in in it now from time to time as am in bricks now! but this seems to cause a equal presher in between the warm & cool air so chucks out any back draft probs due to wet/cool log fire & a stumpy flue don't help I am told! not that I have come across that prob though

we only open it a wee bit just to take let the air run through a bit, and when the kids are in bed the door is left open anyway, we will try this just now if it doesnt work i will be calling on clueless:thumbup1:
