I'm after a seal kit and piston for a Transit caliper. Lockheed number says it is 70's-80's version, probably used in similar aged Bedford, Land-Rover and Austin stuff. Anyone got a lead?

Local parts counter seem to think that I'm a dinosaur for doing DIY fixes rather than just buying a new caliper!

I dont bother with kits anymore with things as cheap as they are. Saves on anger and frustration issues when you fudge your new seal kit up trying to install it too [emoji23][emoji23]

I think the Parts Counter are about right. It is likely the caliper is pitted and hat has taken out the seals. Just fit nice new callipers, bleed the system and bingo, brakes that work.

The pistons had a very minor or spot of corrosion on one, and a rust scab on the seal. The other popped out with compressed air but a damaged lip from belting it when the brakes locked on. Bigg Red in Worcester have a kit for £50 while a Chinese copy is over the £100 from local shop. Rimmer brothers have remanufactured units at £60 exchange! While I like to repair things - that is a 'no brainer'.

Btw, Rimmer Bros sell English car parts and the same unit was Triumph Stag amongst other things!

I also like to fix things rather than binning them but often find that I am spending hours fixing a customers part with the charges being close to a new part so it makes little sense not to purchase a new part.

Hope it all works out, don't want that part to fail!
