The bark is coming off one of our Scots pine trees and wondered if anyone knows what may be the cause and if it is dangerous to the tree health.  It looks s though beetles are attacking it.

Any help greatly appreciated.

The barks being knocked off by woodpeckers after the grubs that are in the breeding galleries under the bark. The grubs only got laid there because there was something fundamentally wrong with the tree's health. If the tree were healthy it would have drowned the invaders in resin.
