Who's Entry Level Tracked 6" Chipper Would Buy and Why?

Why not get a bigger one, what’s the point of a 6” inch tracked chipper? A bigger one isn’t any more expensive.

Greenmech 1928 Safetrac. Any other tracked chipper is miles behind if the reason for having it on tracks is to get it near the tree wherever that is!

And if you're going to that expense, as mick suggested, get a larger capacity, even if you still only chip six inches, it's not maxing out the machine and youll be getting the job done faster. Tp do very good chippers too, not sure if theres a tracked one... if I had to choose one of the above I think I'd go for the gm

You've already got the licence to tow more so what difference does 3/400kg make?

Used, Jensen, for their durability 

 

New, Timberwolf for It’s capacity or Jensen if a winch is needed (they are imo, and preferably hydraulic)

At the time of purchase I could have got a Tracked remote controlled bandit 90 (lightly used) For the same money as my Jensen, but then I wouldn’t have been able to Get a 2m wide machine in round the back of houses, between rocks etc, making a tracked machine pointless if not able to get to the tree.

with the tracks drawn in on both my old 530 and new 540 I can fit the chipper and grinder on the trailer side by side, and remain under a total laiden trailer weight of 3500kg
 

the tw230 with extendable tracks is a narrow, nimble machine for getting into places, the 280 (when I was buying) was fixed Only. Physical size of a car.

Fair enough.

Not sure if GM still do the narrow 1623 safetrak but that is an incredibly versatile machine in terms of where it will go (amazingly narrow when wound right in, ridiculously capable on hills and side-slopes). 
Until I had a safetrak I honestly considered tracked chippers a waste of time - they generally can’t get anywhere a quad can’t tow a wheeled chipper, and when they do run out of capability they are either very stuck or on their side...

Get a safetrak and make loads more money, it will transform how you approach jobs!
