This is true, but many youngsters havent had to drive in these conditions before, its an unknown for them. when I grew up, just about every one in the countryside had a Landie, now they have sports 4x4s with road tyres, which, as I saw today, dont do much good in these conditions. Schools were more local, more walked, so you didnt get badly parked cars cluttering the roads during school times. I dont expect the roads to be perfect, but I would like to see those on benefits, and in open prison, earning their keep doing community services like clearing the paths this time of year, why should they something for nothing, I dont!

And the number of cars on the road was far far lower, as less could afford them i suppose.

According to the RAC in 1971 there were 19 million cars on the road, and in 2007 there were over 31 million on the road. We are truly addicted to them, as can be demonstarted by scores of moronic parents driving yards to school to pick their kids up, and the endless queus of commuters all one to a car, all going to the same office block...
