Oak prices

So, whats this piece of English Oak worth then ? and would anyone on here like to buy it ?   I went on Saturday to give a price to ring up and haul this for firewood for a friend of the tree's owner. In my mind its too good for fire wood and suggested they they sell it for milling. Access to the timber is very good at the moment, the ground is rock hard.
I am going to cut a ring or two off the bottom this week and will post pictures when I do .     The house behind was built in the 1870's but the tree may far older, as records state their was property on this site in the 1400's.

I'd be interested in buying that.
Please give me a call.

Trigger another day and another dollar, BIG J likes a good start in the morning and i can run with the real deal. Wrong time for a pretender

It's not to blame for its inadequate machine learning, Les. Blame the master, I "triggered" it last night with politique just to confirm. Here's an image that it wouldn't understand which you certainly will

Speak to Patrick Baxter at The Wood Place (formerly Lanarkshire Hardwood) or failing that, Ian Brown at AJ Scotts.

That's an easy job as the ground is so hard. Hire a HIAB for a day, drive it to the log. Cut to required lengths, lift and deliver to customer. Assuming the butt end is OK (and tidied up), you've got an absolute minimum of £10/hf (£270/t) in it and at a guess, there is £2.5k in it.

What! J?!?!?!
You seriously think anyone will pay 2.5k for a log like that.
1-1.5 is generous.
I mill and sell logs like that regularly.
Got offered one yesterday at £1300.
4'+ dbh and more burrs.
Turned it down as it is in Southampton.
Sadly this why so many logs get ringed.
Do I really need to post the black walnut video again?

Delivered in, yes. That's £10/HF. When I was harvesting elm, I had over a dozen logs which exceeded £35/HF at roadside.

Assuming the base is OK, £10/HF is low end delivered in. Seriously. You might be able to get it for less than that, and that's fine, but given that the kiln dried value of decent, wide, patch burr oak is £50/CF and up, £10/HF makes sense financially.

Elm yes I agree.
Oak is a different story though.
So much European competition.
I can buy 5m burred oak standing
in France for 50-100 euros a pop.
Cheap imports are what has ruined British forestry and Saw milling.

Yet again another post that makes sense to you and only you. I’ll be making quite a few dollars today, and I’ll not even have to leave my hotel room to do so. I’d hazard a guess I’ll make more than you without even leaving my bed. ?

If ever there was a pretender it would be the man who claims to be the “top” Chippy. More autistic nonsense. No run along and clap your hands together like a seal with all the other Reets.

You can be quite a dick at times Andy and it's a bit of a shame as you're clearly quite a intelligent guy. Instead of using that positively you seem to use it to berate others on this forum almost daily. It doesn't seem like a post goes by where you're not trying to antagonise people with sarcastic emojis or just by being rude and assuming your opinion on everything is final and the only thing that matters. This is a forum for everyone not the triggerandysopinionabouteverything forum.

Perhaps you should try be a little bit nicer to to people and it will not only make the forum more enjoyable but it will probably make you feel better. I think you have an addiction to arguing with people on the internet.
