That may well have been the case a few years ago, not now!

As Roller says councils are well aware of that trick now, Our Local CC advertised a Arborist position last year these are the certs of competance they wanted

 

CS 30,31,38,39 ideally 32 &34 as well

Chapter 8 streetworks

HGV C+E+Hiab

Chipper ticket

PA1&PA6 Spraying

First aid

 

 

Thats a hell of a lot of training they wanted to fill a post getting on our local council gang now is very hard.

 

A good bloke with that amount of quals must be worth 40k+ a year, I bet the position never got filled, the bloke that council was after runs his own show ,he isn't going to the council for 20k a year i'm sure

Don't know if it ever got filled I think it probably did, it was advertised at 25K a year.

 

like you say a well qualified person I only posted to show that our local council isn 't keen to train from scratch.

25k a year is poor for all that see even when you do all them you get wages a secratery laughs at.

the trainers teach you and then your assesed but the process is rediculously overpriced.

 

Another good point why not be assed by the people who train you and know your abilitys thats how they used to do it.

independant assessors are much more imparcial

and thats why thy changed it

too many people went on crap courses and the trainer passed them

standards are much higher these days

So the people teaching today were tought that way.

 

Its the people you work with that know your ability some people dont work well under assesment in that way its not fair on them.

 

but the prices back then were decent my main quarrel is the price its to much if you want a better arb industry full of qualified climbers then they need to offer better training and assesment prices.
