Any great ideas for this pond

I'm looking for a way to secure short 12-14" macrocarpa boards in a 'keystone' type effect around the edge of this pond. Was originally thinking of heavy battens bent around inner and outer faces, screwed to the concrete blocks to retain the liner and also to then screw in the horizontal boards to. After my first half dozen attempts to bend wet larch 2x4 around the radius and the things either snapping or ripping out the rawlplugs, I gave up, awaiting inspiration. That was 2 years ago !

I dont want to just simply screw each board down with 4 screws, thinking it will look pretty shite, but even I'm starting to get sick of it being unfinished, and know if I dont get the liner covered soon it's going to start to decay.

Any ideas?20200410_161746.jpeg20200410_161809.jpeg

Why not cut the 2x4s to 18 inch lengths, angle the ends slightly and attach each one to a block with either rawlplugs as before or hammer in Express nails..

Maccie is lovely wood, be a shame not to utilise it.

If you wanted to try bending the larch again make three to six cuts about 4 mm apart 2/3 of the way through the board from the inside at each point where you have a corner, this should give you more flex where its needed, then use expanding bolts to hold in place, one in the centre of each block.
Just ideas, might work, I've no experience of doing what I've just described although I believe it's how some coffins are bent at the shoulder to allow the side to be made in one piece.

Better off just using flat  stones or bricks etc i reckon
A bit disappointing on an arborists forum, and with a shed full of macrocarpa boards, ready to go. But thanks anyway , when I build the next pond I'll bear it in mind . [emoji12]

Bit of a mess about with a router but coukd use hidden deck board fixings, all you gotta do is router some groves in side of wood ( or use a chainsaw!) and screw each clip into the top of the blocks
EASY!

Oooh ... a bit beyond my skill level with the saw. Never attempted doin grooves down the length with a chainsaw.

I would try to wrap a board around the curve to cover bearers screwed into the top of the pond you could then use hidden fixings or if the boards are thick enough angled screws to fix through the side
Hmm - another good technique, could see this working here too.
Yeah the boards are 40mm so plenty of depth to work with.
Thanks Dumper
