what I want to know is why we have such a hard job to find and rarely use full skip and semi skip chain on big saws

 

I suspect its just a simple thing of market forces, not a real demand over here. The forestry/arb market in this country is very small compared to the States/Canada.

To be honest I know nothing about square ground cutters, but I stumbled upon this "ATOP filing guide" and wondered if anyone knew why you would grind cutters square instead of round.

if you pause the video and watch it from 1.08 and look at the two cuts from that time, you can see how close they actually are,

 

I noticed that Charlieh, and i also noticed how long it was taking to put the saw into work on the round filed cuts:sneaky2:

 

Not a big fan of these types of comparison:thumbdown:
