Does nobody sell sharp knives anymore??

Now that is a proper made knife.

 

It has been hand forged, heated, then folded, beat and heated and folded the same many times, the more times it is folded the better.

 

When sharpened then the edge of the fold becomes the cutting edge.

 

All the very best swords used to be made this way

 

Its made from Alabama Damascus, 5160(Spring Steel) 203e (Low carbon high impact high nickel mild steel alloy) 15N20 (Bandsaw blade material) 52100 (Ball bearing steel) 1018 (Structural steel) and Nickel 200. Forged out and folded 5 times to give 416 layers

 

its 5mm thick so its never going to snap.

That is a very nice bit of forging, apparently the proscess also involved piercing flesh so that the nitrogen in blood super hardened the steel! grim!

 

once the folding and beating was complete they over laid it with a less brittle steel for fracture resistance, hence only the cutting edge of the finest swords have the graining and scallop effect.

 

some samuri swords are priceless

 

i would have enjoyed smithing

Some serious prices there guys!! :lol:

 

Im gonna go for the Opinel option for now, and then, When ive got abit more cash a Sog revolver and then when ive got even more cash, Something abit special just because i want one :lol::lol:
