Unfortunately the C&G Cad course isnt worth the paper its written on. If you search the web and look for intensive courses there are always deals, e-cadassist at the moment they have deals on cad essentials and masters redruced from £1000 ish to pounds £300ish if you book right. These are autodesk verified courses and a worth there weight and then some.:thumbup1:

It depends what you want to do with CAD, Arborist Sites uses CAD for a lot of his work, if you do what I do the C&G is fine.

The C&G teaches you how to use all the drawing commands and how to use model and layout etc.

Most of the time I'm using other peoples drawings and turning their layers off, then using Arborcad.

I can however now draw with CAD which has been handy.

What bits do you need to draw on cad? I did 2d and 3d modling a few years ago, nether thought it'd be handy with trees?

I use CAD mainly for Plans in BS5837 Reports. Usually the site plans are provided by the architects and the tree data is added using Arborcad. However the last one I did we were not given electronic drawings, with knowledge on how to draw I was able to draw the existing buildings and proposed extension, and then plot the trees on.

I have also completed landscape plans from carpark drawings in both plan and elevation.

Knowing how to remove parts of the existing drawing and draw on items such as fencing and give annotation has been really handy.

Snowy,

you are taught how to draw using construction lines, mirror, copy trim, extend, chamfer etc. The use of model space and layout. Viewports, borders, templates, relative and absolute positions.

It does not really go into architectural drawing although the principles are the same.

You complete more and more complicated drawings to learn more functionality.

You have two assessments.
