Useless Workmates

The geographically inept drive me mad. Grid references, lat/long, what3words, phone screenshots of the map app (that they all come with) with a pointer dropped where to park your car. Mobile phones can navigate you to anywhere on the planet within metres. Some apps will give you an arrow to follow. All of that is in everybody's pocket all the time and they still telephone to say they're outside the Co-Op and is it left or right? I could have delivered a pizza to Osama Bin Laden's cave when I was twelve thanks to no more than the haphazard instruction of my scout leaders. Adults have no excuse.

Been working with a workmate on and off for 6 yrs or so .but today I almost lost it big time and fell out . intrested to hear how others in the same situation would feel
I was suppose to be helping him on a job today and arrangement was pickup at 9
called me at 8.20 saying 5 minutes away and I said not ready I will meet you at the job site at 9
as it turns out he told me completely the wrong area / road and sent me on a wild goose chase for nearly an hour
after several callls later still wasn’t much help and didn’t make it obvious where he was .
when I finally arrived at gone 10 he wasn’t apologetic as expected but rude and patronising.
stayed for the day but still pissed off and thinking don’t bother again with such people even if they are old mates
I said I will finish the job tmr but totally gone off working with him
rant over

I’ve had so many! I had a guy who thought being hung over was a fine excuse for being off sick. Sacked him in the end.

I had a guy from an agency who on his first day had turned up on site and felled a 40ft 15 in diameter ash tree with a b&q handsaw before we’d arrived with the kit. Fuck knows how he managed it, no notch or anything, just cut straight through and thank fuck it fell somewhere safely!

A few stormed off site over the years. And anAustralian guy who quit on the spot and never worked for us again after a digger driver from another firm took the piss out of him.

Good people are hard to come by. Especially when you’re a small outfit and don’t have the time or resources to keep em in line with an HR department and all that jazz.
