srt on dynamic rope

I wanna get In to SRT but I only have a dynamic rope the poison Hi VY, what do u think of using a dynamic rope for srt, bareing in mind of the stretch of the rope

 it will be with a zig zag and chicane

Works fine, although it’s semi static not dynamic. You definetly wouldn’t want to srt on dynamic

It will work, and you’ll appreciate a more static rope when you get one.

is that just because it stretches to much

yeah it would be really bouncy on the ascenders, specially on long ascents

It's entertaining trying it on rock climbing rope

I climbed Ddrt with a dynamic rock climbing rope and a shunt for a while. In some situations the bounce was even benefical. The stretch when i'd put my weight on the line would help my thrust up pretty hard when I did the body thrust. Different system though

It was all we had in the 70s but by mid 80s I came across army abseil rope, I'd never thought about SRT until reading here.
