Oh yes and naughty to shoot one as well...only the second one I have ever seen in all the years I have been around shoots.nice to see though and would be good to keep an eye out to see if it makes it through to the end of the season..stands out like a beacon to predators.

Melanistic ( black birds ) are used as markers as well but you tend to get more of those .

We had Goldies , Silvers , Reeves and Tragopans at one time but over the years the blind old farts shot the lot ! ?

When I was at school my naighbour used to breed canaries and used to cross them with gold finches,bull finches,chaffinches etc back in the 70’s and he also had golden pheasants and reeves...and also had would you believe Weaver Birds which made the most amazing nests.

Most of the reared birds are Michigan blue back cross birds now .
