TW160? Opinions please...

Thanks for the info guys. I was considering a GM 130/150. These (and the TW160) are the only decent road towable hydraulic chippers (that I could find) that will fit through my shed door (door opening 1420mm)! The nearest GM dealer is 1hr 45mins away, nearest TW dealer...20 mins away! The only things putting me off the TW160 is the lack of engine cover and the s@%te Alko hitch that Mark pointed out. Other than that the machine sounds ace. It's good to know that the main bearings are now grease-able too.  I will knock up some kind of engine cover for when in transit. Mark, where are you running your chain to/around on the chipper? Found a meaty Bullldog clamp for when the chippers not in use, just need to figure out how to lock it up quick when out and about. Any ideas for a makeshift (in- transit) engine cover will be welcome too! I'm thinking some pvc with eyelets and bungee cords?

Definitely look at the GreenMech Arborist 130... For much the same price you can have the following extra....

Bonnet, LED Lights, Brakes, Hand brake, 6" x 9" Infeed, Adjustable Height A Frame & Locking Hitch.

And... the chute folds down for storage.

Less than a minute with a spanner to release 2 bolts.

I was lucky and got hold of a rare bracket which attaches to the A-frame and supports the folded chute for travel.

To be honest mate the lack of cover isn’t a problem.

There’s a company near me that MAY do a hitchlock that locks it onto the ball, but for now it’s a chain through the jockey wheel bracket onto the hitch bracket on the back of the truck, and a wheelclamp when stationary.

And the shitty little brass barrel lock.

I can vouch for the Greenmech 130. Awesome little chipper, very well thought out design. I like having a hand brake too for when you’re pushing it around on a sloping driveway. Disc blades seem to last for ages. Honda engine. As Ty says the folding chute is great too especially if storing in a low shed or garage. I hear what you’re saying about dealers and I’m fortunate to have a great dealer (though also over an hour away) but I’d seriously consider the GM.

Although they might be a distance away, they'll most likely come to site in the event of a breakdown, service or warranty repair. On servicing we are normally on site by 8am.

Any parts you need can be over night direct from factory to you if ordered by 3pm. We now have our own eBay shop with most parts you'll need.
