The proof of the insurance is in the claim. Dont think that because you got a piece of paper all will be well. Using subbies just complicates matters when there's an accident.

Neville Chamberlain once said ; " I have in my hand, a piece of paper" !!!

I would hate to have to make a claim that involved subbies who were working for me:scared:

You never know you could get lost going to the garden shed nowdays lol

acutally your wrong again one of my requirments is i use bonifid sub contractors with liability no less than my own im fully covered so are they you should read things up first.

I do go in depth with my insurance to make sure i cover all the angles any one who subs from me and break stuff is liable not me thats a stated fact.

Oh you do not need EL by law they changed it when was the last time you looked. But i have it any way point being.

Dont know about your insurer but mine says that in order to qualify as "bona Fide" a subby must work unsupervised using his own equipment. This means a ground worker cant be a subby for a climber as he is supervised and is sharing equipment. you could employ a 2 man team as subbys but they would need EL cover for each other. If u employ anyone you need EL by law, the subby rule is intended for a genuine outside contractor like a stumpgrinder specialist or timber haulage firm or something.

If your "subbys " work with you all the time they are your employees.

Thanks for the advice, but I have spent tens of thousands of pounds on public and employers liability over the last few years! And they've always asked if I and my staff are qualified.

Tens of thousands of pounds yeah maybe over many moons PL is not expensive at all trust quoted me 525 if had tickets i got better price and was not asked for my tickets.

But hey we all do things different no ones right or wrong. but PL only gets expensive when you go into commerical work then you need 5mil pl 10ml epl

Thats what i mean. If you lied about your tickets then you're screwed. I bet they didnt ask if you had the windblow ticket, or some of the other more obscure ones. Mine only asked for basic chainsaw, rescue and cs39, I've got 41 but they did'nt ask for it.

Correct. If you're using bonafide subbies it equates to giving your work to another business!:heeeelllllooooo:
