None at all as it is polluting.  Any sustainably grown wood is nearing carbon neutral, type doesn't matter.  What matters is how is grown and processed.  Locally produced and air dried will be by far the best (lowest carbon), and properly dry to minimise smoke.

I burn a mix of syc, larch and Scots pine always in a mix and its great since I get it free. Got given a small load of beech mixed with holly which was brill, although the holly was a pig to split. I think that heat for work put in to cut & split Sycamore is the best.

The take home is if its seasoned it's great !

Interesting, I had a biggish (for holly) stem a few years back - about 10” diameter - and seem to remember it split pretty easily. Maybe it was very green or maybe I was just younger and stronger back then?!

I've never had much trouble splitting holly. Great wood for keeping a stove in overnight.

The holly I got was 18 inch and had been in an abandoned poly tunnel for 2 years, it was like iron, the maul just bounced off it !  Bloody good in the stove tho !

I've always found Holly fine to split too, and or burns very very well.  Sounds like yours had dried, a lot of wood gets her to split then.

Sycamore it seems is universally simple to split!

Yip syc splits easy and as many have said is the lowest effort firewood, the holly I had was great to burn and awful to split as it was so dry, but it was free so everyone a winner !!
