Thinking of doing a course and training up to become a climber aborist. What are the pros and cons of the job?

Is a course required or can you work your way up?

I know it's a physical job but do you have enough energy to have a life outside of work.

I guess if you eat the right diet, do stretches/ yoga that'll keep you in shape and in the game for longer, right?

About me.... I'm 28 and have a background in practical conservation work so passionate about nature, trees and generslly being outdoors. I have a basic chainsaw ticket and some experience as a groundsman and worked for a winter felling small Douglas fir trees. Also getting into rock climbing so this might come in handy

Go and volunteer as an extra pair of hands on a tree crew for two weeks.

That should teach you wether the job is for you or not.

That’s pretty much what I did.

Unfortunately I got conned into thinking I liked it.

Course or no course, you'll be working your way up. Having the tickets will make it easier to get given a chance.
