That's a tidy job. Just looking into doing this myself to save tying up a tractor. Any chance you could give details of the engine size etc?  Looking at a 24hp Honda to drive it so hopefully enough flow for a decent ram speed.

Engine is a lombardini 20hp diesel a pair of 11cc hydraulic pumps with 1 going throu a unloading valve set at 140 bar so when it gets to much that pump drops out and the other do's the rest same as a two stage pump. 

Rev set at about 2000 rpm giving 40lpm.

I did also to free up tractor and so I don't have take tractor on job to split timber for customers. 

Not a cheap project but got what I wanted in the end.

Thanks for that. Pretty similar to what I was hoping to do. Agree its not a cheap solution once all the bits are sourced. But should be a lot more flexible to use and not run the tractor hours up unnecessarily. Thanks for getting back that's very helpful.

Should of also said use the same oil as your tractor runs so no cross contamination if you want to use it on tractor again.

I stick 46 in all my machines so that's no bother.
