Oak Burr Value

I’ve had a few PMs asking for location etc - it’s in Cheshire but could be loaded onto a pallet easily enough.

English oak (Quercus robur).

Approximately 3 feet across, it must weigh 150kg minimum I’d guess. I’ll get some proper measurements if I get a chance today though.

At £50-£80 it won’t be going anywhere unfortunately. This is a big old lump, and it is all there in one piece.

I think the value would be in how it looked once milled, if it was good looking with plenty of character value may increase ? but if it was plain or poor at say £65 + transport it would be expensive, at £65 that would equate to £433 a tonne, got offered £500 for the piece in the photo 8ft long with a diameter of 45" but depending on how it looked when milled out and i would only know that if i am there when milling takes place,

3' is a good size so i'd up the value to about £150 for the lump as is.

spuddog is right that anyone who buys it will be taking a chance on the grain on the inside which could be plainer than you think.
