I have finally got round to getting a couple of pallets of grit for the blaster, so it's time for the chieftain low loader and foster grain trailer to get spruced up ?.  The foster has really bad surface rust (as most of them do) so could prob do with some high build primer first? What paint would you recommend and what supplier? Cheers.

Don’t forget some types of grit are very dangerous and must be treated with great caution.  Sand is best avoided unless you want silicosis.  Hopefully you knew this anyway.  What type of grit do you have?

It's proper blasting media I've got, iron silicate from scangrit. I think sand is a banned substance here ?. I used it years ago but it breaks down too easily and you get loads of dangerous dust!

Do you need a giant Compressor for the sandblaster?

The local guy is crazy expensive for sand blasting.

I've just got a road tow compressor, it's not giant but produces plenty air. The blasting media is quite expensive right enough and a 25kg bag does not go very far !

Just don't go down the road of using a 2K isocyanate product unless you have a full suit, air fed mask and know exactly what you are doing - literally deadly !!! Air compressor in a different location / building priority feeding your mask.

Use an epoxy primer (HB Body is great - actually 2k but not an isocyanate product), followed by basecoat colour you would like, finally Upol clear laquer. Polish after a few days in warm weather.

This combination will give you a lasting durable quality pro. finish and can be used on your vehicles. Can be polished up when required to a mirror finish.

If you have no compressor you can get away with buying a 50 litre and a smart HVLP spraygun.
