Stihl Chainsaw Problem: Choking under full throttle

Get it checked out, sounds pretty sick, and not just at full throttle by the sound of it.  How old is the fuel?

Don't fiddle with it before taking it to the dealer if you're talking warranty, or they could throw it out.  (The warranty that is).

Thanks again!

The fuel is fresh, ...less than a week old.

Unfortunately the chainsaw is not under warranty anymore. I bought it as a backup saw and only used it 5 or 6 times during the last 4 years.

Initially it was running well, ...until I was going through the base of the trunk. Maybe it just got too hot?

Four years old and hardly any usage is probably one of the worst scenarios to be honest.  You really need to get the saw, or at least the carb serviced.   Metering Diaphragm has probably gone hard.

Idles surprisingly well doesn't it.... Considering the high speed running I'm a bit surprised it doesn't just throw the towel in and give up.

Probably just a fueling issue but I'd check the piston condition before running it anymore, (exhaust off, visual check through exhaust port). An outside punt,  does chain run freely, chain brake is not clagged up ? Could explain why it idles ok but can't achieve a decent running speed.

Edit: scratch that, looks like chain is running on at the end.
