Ok give up the goods. Where Europe? I'm a decent climber and in another few years I'll be a damn good one. Do you get 400 a day in the same places you get cheap land and property, lax planning laws, sausage meat, 200 days of sun and  a 9 month growing season?

Because you know, that would spell out most of a life plan.

I'm in Italy (holiday, not work)at the minute, and there loads of abandoned old houses and chestnut woods, go for pennies perhaps.

They might go for pennies, till you start trying to renovate them then the Italians will have you over a barrel

If you want to make good money as a climber you need to become a business owner and have staff , machinery and all the stress that goes with it, as well as more money and nicer things.

  It’s a natural progression imo.

And its still not easy to make good money in my experience..

What are the Italians going to do?

If it’s like France there are thousands upon thousands of rural properties going for buttons.

The problems come when you realise that materials and artisans are just as expensive as those in the UK.

Then you find that you’ll struggle to recoup your money when you resell.

That is a mistake many make, overcapitalising the property.

There is a barn in my village that cost 15k, a Brit has half renovated it, new roof, wood floors, sewerage system, mezzanine upstairs, put 50k into it.

Anyway he died before he could use it or finish it properly.

Kids will sell it, they’ll be lucky to get the original purchase price back.

I was speaking to someone a while back who bought a house in Italy, not realising all the hoops they make you jump through. Its near on impossible to get stuff done. I forget the whole story I was told, but they were literally forced into using only one company or something like that.
