Anything specific in mind ?,  I had 39 years as a specialist HGV parts wholesaler in a past life.   Most of the air brake gear you should be able to get rebuilt,  brake linings were tricky even 30 years ago as the holes were randomly drilled.   Best way is to have a specialist drill and countersink and then rivet them on. Took me almost a week to do a set of 12 shoes.  Filters should be no problem,  Coopers/Fram should still do them.

I thought it was the asbestos based ones that were drilled and riveted, the modern (lower friction) ones being bonded??

I say this from when I had the clutch and brake bands on the winch done, the clutch never pulled as much with the modern material.

The set I did was early 1970s,  the linings fom memory had a fair taper so going the bonded route was not really an option,  been out of that industry for 10 years now,  so just dont know what the current state of play would be.    Dependng on roughly where you are I might be able to recommend someone if needed,

I was referring to when I relined the Igland winches not a Matador and I doubt I shall do it again but thanks.

RE Matador spares I asked the chap I help out with and it seems he only has a set of fairleads left.

Ah,  ok,  limited experience on brake bands on winches,  only on large excavators.   Brake bands are usually bonded and riveted.
