chipper anvill settings

What about the clearance for a drum chipper? I was told 25 thou or 4 magazine pages?! Any ideas - thanks

I used to run a Bruks chipper and they said between 0.2 and 0.4mm between the knife and the dead knife (anvil)

Really?! You mean the drum blade hitting the anvil? Fair play - I don't want to imagine the mess that would make.

dont try any of the above unless you've checked the anvil first to make sure that its not worn, they take as much, if not more pain than the blades. it is supprising how much a good 'sharp' angle on the anvil will improve chipping/quality

Cool; my drum machine is fairly new - I turned the anvil last week - it has four usable sides so I'm now on the second side. Indeed I noticed an improvement in chipping but it got a baptism of fire with a load of big dead elm. The anvil has a lot of adjustability. Add a chain to ones gap measuring device I reckon! Hate to loose it down in the drum chamber!

The anvil, bed knife, shear bar is always very important, in that once rounded orf, it tends to shred material rather than chip. This action tends to be harder on the machine and the quality of your chips i naff.
