Beef jerky

Tried making this last night,

1 kilo trimmed lean silverside

Soy sauce

Salt

Pepper

Chilli flakes

And half a pot of piri piri seasoning

Cut thin beef, marinate in sauce,

Dry in fan oven for 5-8 hours.

After 2 hours I had to try it...

Tasted like salt and herbs. Foul.

Realised I hadn't washed the marinade off. Back to the sink...

4 hours later...

Oh yummy [emoji106][emoji3][emoji3][emoji3]

Well done. I found some beef jerky under my fridge while doing a spring clean. Tasted strange but not not as strange as the fact I’ve never bought jerky.
I bought a smoker the other year with high aspirations. Not done any preserving, basically use it as a bbq but stuff tastes great
