Is anyone supplying wood-chip for children’s play areas? I’ve been asked if I can supply some and was wondering if wood-chip from tree surgery arisings is safe to use in this way?

I've seen a lot of really nasty fungus growing out of arb chip. Vaguely remember something about sterile/heat treated woodchip for playgrounds.

Same here, seen some bad fungus in arb chip.

Woodchip in Play Areas has a BS and is often called Play Bark. As I understand it this is the only product you can use in Play Areas. All the big suppliers offer it. We use TMA.

 

It is  BS EN 1176, they specify the depth it should be
