Well the tassles are saying Garrya elliptica to me but not the leaves.  Look it up and see what you think.

looks like a shrub to me and on looking it up it looks simular to a Garrya?

Looks like some kind of evergreen shrub to me. Garrya does seem likely.

 

Edit. Just seen better pictures on the other thread, and does look a bit wingnutty.

Thanks guys, that's really helpful. From your steers I thinks its likely to be Garrya fremontii, the leaf looks more correct on this species. The pictures on the other thread are from a different tree though, and that one is not caucasian wingnut.
