Clearly it has been re.re.re reduced a few times, they’ve tried to leave sap pullers/gone back to live growth, very important on birch.

Seen a lot worse.

It’s been hammered before Mick. Guess the owner wants to retain it no matter the cost!

Exactly chaps! Someone is making money off it. Just wish I could avert my eyes....

I find it bizzare that people will spend on smart cars, driveways, fencing, chique garden ornaments but tolerate this level of work on a tree in front of their 'residence' which looked perfectly fine.

This is in Betton, a well heeled town North of Rennes. The whole street bore the scars of lockdown tree rape.

Coronet cut. Looks more natural.

He took too long on the first one though and didn't have time to do the others that way.

I stand corrected, was about to comment that it looks like the "20 ft ladder and a blunt polesaw" cut, colloquially known as the "spikey pikey"

At least it will provide a bit of greenery and wildlife, better than it not being there IMO.

Whilst I agree entirely that it’s good for habitat and keeping a tree that’s ultimately healthy by ugly as sin is the right thing to do..... it still offends my eyes on a near daily basis! 😆
