Do new saws need running in? - Echo 2511

Will a new Echo 2511TES need any kind of running in from brand new?

 

Also what exhaust modifications are useful for a bit of extra parp?

All saws need running in unless you intend to use then as ornaments?

Spud bypassed the cat in the exhaust which made a difference to mine

Small cuts for the first tankful or so.

Really? Just straight to work out the box, flat out for me. Never had any longevity issues.

Yup, you want the piston ring to form a perfect seal with the cylinder. Run it hard.

it's so dinky I can't help treating it like an ornament

There is a small window of time when both the ring and cylinder are relatively rough. Run it hard for shorter periods of time to get the two friction surfaces bedded in quickly.
