benedmonds will faint, fall off his bike, or tell us there is no way on this earth anyone can afford to pay those rates.

Tbh I can dick about with a hedgecutter 5 mins from home and earn that, but I do love a good crane job!

Don't believe you. There isn't any money in the industry. Whether you're in the South Wesr, East Anglia, or the East Midlands.

I am trying really hard not to resist resorting to insults..... You don't understand how a business works .. A one off crane job is a totally different proposition to 99% of tree work. Comparing a day rate trimming conifers to a day on a crane is dumb.. The market decides what you can charge..

If a job can't be done by many people then you can charge a premium.. But most tree work can be undertaken by someone with a few weeks training and a chainsaw..

For example I charge more for me doing a days consultancy that I can for a 2 man team with a truck and chipper..  Is it more difficult.. . do I work harder.. No..

The  reason you can charge more working with shit is that few people are willing to do it...

It should be more difficult - I thought a consultant had to know a lot of stuff - things that take years, not weeks to learn

"Not to resist?, Try not to patronise me Ben. I know full well how business works. I'll be off to walk the little fella. Are you out of bed yet?
