Firewood Storage

Hi all,

Great site I've found it really interesting. I'm not currently involved in Firewood but it's something I'm interested in getting into in the future. I'm currenty setting up a yard to store my mini digger and other bits of kit. I want leave an area that I could use for seasoning fire wood and just want to know what the best conditions are for seasoning? I would of thought off the floor on pallets or racking with some sort of cover but open at each end to allow wind flow? Do you have to mix the pile up every so often to let the logs at the center of the pile have there turn on the out side?

What other factors should I be thinking of? I know permissions/planning might be a issue but it is currently used for storage of machinery so I don't think it should be a problem.

Like I said I'm in the early processes of sorting things out so any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Ross

Hi Tom,

Still negotiating with the guy in PZ about the trailer with a mini digger on it. Thanks for letting me paw all over yours and for the chat really appreciate it.

Good luck with it....you should have had mine, it had a new jockey wheel and bellows on the brakes and really was like a new trailer. Never mind, someone has a mega bargain.:crying:
