Using a top handle saw from a mewp.

Hi all,

I have been told that I need to have CS39 to use a top handle chainsaw, all the info I can find, AFAG leaflets etc. say that they should only be used by 'trained arborists'.

I do have CS30/31 and also CS47 (use of chainsaw from a mewp).

So is it legal for me to use a top handle chainsaw from a mewp, or do I have to stay with the ground saw until I get CS39?

I’d tend to agree that yes you do need to have ’39 for MEWP use. This is what I was told when we all went through our MEWP tickets a few years ago.

There were two ‘none-arbs’ on the course and they were told they couldn’t use one, after-all standing in a MEWP is just like standing on the ground – and we never use 020’s on the ground, do we. :sneaky2:
