the photo of the tree and trunk are the best i can get for now.

it is tall (30')and lanky with a 10-12" trunk. not that many branches.

 

the fragments have blown into my mums garden and have got me a bit confused as to their origin.

Of the two likely candidates, Taxoddium distichium/ swamp/bald cypress has alternate foliage and Metasequoia glyptostrobus / dawn redwood has opposite foliage.

I think.

But juvenile foliage may be aberrant.

Pologies for spellig and not botherin to look it up; I'm avin m'tea.

truthfully i urge everyone to have nails as you don't know how useful they are till you have them.
