Makita recall

Makita have known about this for over a year. A colleague of mine has had several demo saws from our local rep which 3 or 4 broke within a small amount of time and got sent back. The rep was reporting the issue to deaf ears by the sounds of it. Seems like they are doing something about it now.
I think it is all down to the chainbrake spring being too strong and putting too much stress on the linkage and brake band as both of them seem to brake quite often.

Don’t worry Bill this sounds like a national thing so it should go too your nearest makita dealer  also I’ve been slacking on those big spikes
Any nearby Makita dealer you think? Will try but suspect I know what they will say.....

Yes soon as you know about those spikes let me know

From what I have seen, they pull pretty hard and are made reasonably well so don't feel too bad. There is a hinged link in the brake mechanism, a bit like the MS200 one and reckon that is why the recall - have seen a few that are a bit dodgy.
Yes I 've been impressed with mine so far, pull very well. I try not to use the brake all the time anyway tbh, but you want it working when you need it!

Just phone the freephone number in the link Bill, there may be an option to send the saw in to makita direct.

Still not heard or got my chainsaw back. Rang them 10 days ago and they said they were awaiting parts? Surely Makita uk organise some stock when the sort a massive recall on dodgey brakes?

Maybe start summing up what the loss of saw has cost and starting a claim for damages
