Good luck with fitting a non standard coil, anything can be done but get it wrong and the saw will either be very boggy or pre ignite and cause serious issues.

Close the flywheel to coil gap up to almost nothing, remove the kill wire, take the plug out, earth it on the cylinder away from the plug hole and pull it over hard and view the plug in subdued light. Many fail to pull the saw over hard enough and diagnose the wrong fault!

Just one other thing to check, make sure it’s all nice and clean around the coil where the earth wire fits on to with the spade connector, I’ve seen/fixed a trimmer with this problem, earthing the coil out.

Btw, use a known working plug, ie one from another saw, or check the plug in another saw,  not that often,  but I have seen duff new plugs.

And if you do have to get a coil, I’ve read that a 361 fits and is unlimited, but you should check the tune of the carb etc.

But limited to what,

i think your find a 088 is 12k and 880 12k or 12.5k I have read some are less but that just maybe in the USA

where as 361 is 13.5k

i use the word unlimited, but what limits saws rpm's is the fuel (rich or lean) as well as limiters in the coil.

is what I’ve gleaned from tinternet..

anyhow your mileage may vary.

Btw, it’s also an other option of a coil that fits  if the op can’t find a s/h coil.

And yes yes look at the 461 coil and the 460 coil that’s a classic variation over time
