Ben, Next time utilise your crane to dismantle the whole tree. Pointless to strip it first then get a crane. Nice pics and well done on the Job.

it would of been a nightmare having a crane there for 2 days, was a bit tight for employees to get buy as it was, the crane was used just for quickness on taking the wood out(even though the first crane broke down!!), and really it could of come at the end of the first day but lee put 2 days on it which ment there was no rush and made for a very pleasent 2 days chopping, it was my first wellintonia and very memorable

I cocked up my first chunk on a crane,

it went from picture a to picture b in a couple of seconds

 

 

 

was paying attention but not enough obviously. lesson learnt

 

oh and dont cock it up like that. its a tad on the scary side.

Ben, with a crane you need to think 'Hours' as opposed to 'days'. But, thats not to take away from the fact that you had a game-plan that worked exactly the way you planned it.

 

You look a proud man stood at the bottom of that tree, and so you should be. Very well done and great pictures:congrats:

Reg, my thoughts exactly. The job obviously went exactly as planned. I have some pics somewhere from about 10 years ago(pre digital) of a 140ft Wellingtonia I dismantled in under 2 hours with a 35 tonne crane. Had to put 2 pieces of fly jib on the crane to reach the top. Must see if I can scan in the pics.
