Anyway ....All the best Will,  its a beautifule corner of UK , but yr gonna need luck n verve to put bread on the table there , not hearing good rates being paid there , possibly a multi function business of horti' based with som arb' an a bit of bricki' thrown in , but be lucky :) K

Thanks Khriss! Aye, it sure is. I'll make it work, nothing a bit of perseverance won't sort :thumbup1:  Obviously the ideal is that I'd find something full time straight off the bat. Even if it was only part-time to start, and I fill the rest of the week doing something else as you said I'd be happy. One can only try!

Hehe! I understand your mentality, but I'm quite used to driving a long way. It's fine as well so long as I can stick to roads that are more than one lane wide! I realise that they are in short supply as you get further into Cornwall!

I get twitchy if I am asked to do a job more then 10 miles away. 95 per cent of my work is in a 10 mile radius. It’s all well and good saying you don’t mind travelling, but a 40 mile round trip here generally takes best part of 2 hours- it just eats into the day too much.

Our favourite Beach is officially only 30 miles away. But can easily take up to 1.5 hours one way if it’s a hot summers day and the Grockles are out!

Will I think Glendale are liskeard or launceston and always looking for staff. If you don’t mind working on the side of a road and some long hours?

Thanks chap, I'll take a look. Can't be too fussy at this point, just need something to get myself started and settled. Then I can get a feel for what else is out there

It's a fair point. Pick the right route in Scotland and you can average a great speed over a long journey. I've done the run up to Aviemore so many times that I can predict my arrival to within a couple of minutes depending on what speed I choose to do.

I know it won't be like that in Devon, and I hope not to have to travel too far. I will however be offering a niche service, so expect to have to travel a bit, at least in the first instance until I build up my reputation.

I should stress though that the traffic in the Central Belt can be awful (West Lothian has three times the population density of Devon). I had a dreadful run into Edinburgh a few weeks ago at rush hour where my average speed for 14 miles was 11mph.

Yeah, 5 minutes from junction 28 on the M5. Going to try to stick to the larger roads, by and large. I'll be 40ft long with the van and trailer, and just don't fancy those Devon lanes.

I'd be happy to come down to Ashburton should you have a use for me. With the band tracks, I ought be able to work on some of that famous peat bog.
