Customer insisted on me coming to do a job today

Were you charging extra for working a Bank Holiday?

I always would if the customer is insistant that it has to be done.

Ive been surveying today, because I chose to get a bit ahead of my workload, but if the deadline meant that I had no choice other than to do so, the client would have to pay for it.

Edit. And if after insisting you’re there at an arranged time, they can’t be arsed to be up and organised I’d be leaving immediately just due to their ignorance. It indicates their opinion of you and what you do, so it ain’t a good start to your working relationship.  Good on you for leaving.

When I was back in the UK, one of the guys I did a lot for asked us to work on a BH.  Double bubble, we said yes.

His customer had demanded he do it on a BH so he could be there.  I asked if he was charging extra but he said there was enough on the job to keep the customer, him and us happy.  Fair enough, except...

We turned up at the agreed time, and the guy answered the door, saw us into the garden then said have a good day, I am off out for the day as it is a Bank Holiday.

There We Are Then.

The guy I was working for was stitched up hook line and sinker!

Subbies are dismentable mind..... I really do despair at times.

I'm going to get this off my chest while I'm at it. The likes of certain forum members are just that, Members, Pay and be paid. If they don't like it they can feck off. If they can't get work that pays the going rate it's their problem not some poor bloke trying to get a decent days money.
