I think people were put off  by it's MOT history which said the chassis is corroded, (on one MOT, and it's never been on another MOT). I took a mobile mechanic with me to view it and neither he or I could find anything more than odd bits of surface rust.

All chassis will show signs of oxidisation, some more than others. The merc 800 series were common to having body rust, again some more than others, but chassis on them were always good unless you’d had one as a horse box or similar, obviously from wee wee dribble working its magic like it does. But again, not all of them suffered badly.
Chequer plate was an easy get out for a lot of people, cut it, drill it, rivet it...... looks well!... [emoji6] can sometimes hide a multitude of sins.
But that of yours looks sound, and mileage is defo in its favour. They’ll do 400k plus with casual servicing on those engines, they are MASSIVELY indestructible, proper sloggers, just thirsty on fuel, thats all. But looking at the big picture, if you’ve got solid reliability with no expensive maintenance lay outs like some modern motors....... is a bit extra in fuel really that bad??!!!

The Chequer plate has covered some rust up. I've had the inner sills replaced, that's about it. I believe the engines are known as the million mile engines, or was that km?

Back to MPG, I put £40 quid in it in Welford, Northamptonshire, which is about 110 miles and drove it back to Suffolk with some still left. You do the math.

Nice truck Eggs, That's got my thinking cap on. Which never ends well...

What would you want to do with an old truck?

Winters coming, would you be away South, or hide up somewhere here?

I'm flat out surveying till February. Then I'm going to Thailand for a while. When I get back I'm keen to get a vehicle.
What I'd do with an old truck is fit the meatiest sound system I could find and go hang out with like minded people in a field.

I'm in the truck full time, hiding in a mates yard. I asked him if I could put a shed up to use as a shower, toilet, he went one better and said you can have that old box if ya want. So this week I've built myself a bathroom, just got to get something on the floor and put some heating in.
