540xp cylinder cover

Looking for a quick fix or is the only way getting a new cylinder cover ? And if so how easy is it to fit

Araldite, 1.5mm aluminium and a couple of self tappers should sort it

Tried all kinds of fixes . Non lasted long . get the MK2  cylinder cover . The moulding in that area has been  beefed up and you need to get the updated AV spring which is stiffer and barrel shaped .

I'm not sure where the self tappers could go but I would also add carbon fibre tow around the lug and along either side of it to the casing for a few inches.

 

Keep things clean and warm the araldite (ordinary araldite not the fast one).

Is the saw going to have to be pretty much stripped, to replace the cylinder cover? My guess is yes but want to confirm, if so I’ll get it sent into a local dealer as I’m off my feet and don’t have the time

yup, i replaced a fuel tank/handle assembly on mine and that bit is under there so its carb off, tank off to get to it, 90 minute job id imagine, less for dealer if knows where everything goes!

Don’t know if it’s worth mentioning top hooking your saw, worked with a bloke who had this loads by not using the grey eye that fits next to the strop loop

Cheers something to bare in mind, believe a Reecoil lanyard would sort that as you can set it up to hook on your handle
