The chainsaw of the future

Morning,

Thanks for all the positive comments on the new saw - it's a really exciting launch for us.

We've had injection technology on our TS 500i cut off saw which was launched around 6 years ago. STIHL's fuel injection injects the correct amount of fuel into the crankcase in sync with the engine cycle and the mix is ignited at the optimal moment. This video shows it in action (injection cycle from 43 seconds.)

As Steve mentioned at the top of this thread, a preview of the saw will be at the Arb show at Westonbirt, alongside the new MS 462 C-M.  Pop along to the stand to have a look.

The MS 500i hasn't been priced yet but will be in the new STIHL catalogue from February 2019.

Thanks

Paul

Personally I'd be happy if I never saw a carb again. I hope they fit plastic fuel lines too. Get rid of everything made of rubber that's in contact with fuel. I'd pay extra for a saw that didn't need carb overhaul every few years.

Then it's next step, turbo saw, use the engine to inject the fuel faster and faster and faster.... weight of a silky, power of a 880, pull cord like a party-popper. That kind of thing.
