Help pricing standing hardwood firewood

Have a look around in a circle from the set to were they do their poo . then stay outside of that . TCD wont like it if the ground is wet . Its the torment of his life .

Further to earlier comments, comparable conditions would warrant £15 per ton down South, also

I got a response from the estate and they have decided not to go ahead with my proposal. Their main reasons were:

 

* They felt £15 a tonne was too low. They only mechanically harvest now (even crappy hardwood) and want £20 a tonne

* They've knackered so much of the shoot on this side of the main road that they've had to promise the syndicate not to undertake anymore felling without 6 months notice unless it's an emergency.

 

Nevermind. It would have been nice to do, and the one bit of forestry work done on the estate in the past 5 years that wasn't in the style of "Shock and Awe"

It's amazing what the owners can be persuaded to do, normally dodgy advice given by land agents taking backhanders from contractors. These big estates hardly need the money from felling a couple of trees.

At least they were honest and gave you a reason, if harvesters can get on the land you'll struggle to do it cheaper and they can put that saving into the timber price.

 

Hopefully you get some contracts where it's too awkward to get to usually so you'll be able to offer a needed service

With a bottom like that there is no way that game birds would hold in that unless it has a game crop running up one side, just to cold.     Take out 30% and replace with lines of laurels around 8 yards apart in rows that runs in the direction its driven.  After 10 years lay the laurels,   then and only then will you get it to hold birds providing the Laurels dont get shaded out.
